About

Engineer, builder, AI experimentalist.

I'm Zach Allen. I build AI systems and the businesses around them - and I write about what works, what breaks, and what I'd do differently.

My work sits at the intersection of AI, cloud architecture, system design, and startup building. Most days I'm designing orchestration layers for AI workloads, shipping product on Azure, or testing whether a new agent pattern actually survives contact with real users.

What I focus on

  • AI orchestration - routing, state, policy, and observability for multi-model systems
  • Cloud architecture on Azure - Container Apps, Postgres, managed identity
  • Agent and MCP-based tool integration
  • Founder-mode engineering: small teams, real constraints, durable systems

Why this site exists

I learn best by writing things down. This site is my working notebook - architecture diagrams, post-mortems, lessons from shipping products, and occasional opinions about where AI tooling is going.

It's deliberately not a marketing site. If something on here helps you ship, that's the whole point.

Currently

  • Building an AI orchestration system for production workloads
  • Writing more, shipping more, talking less
